Eastview Boys Lacrosse Wins State Championship

The Lightning brought home the school's first-ever boys state championship in any sport with a 10-4 win over Eden Prairie on Thursday.

claimed its first-ever boys state championship in any sport on Thursday night when the Lightning lacrosse team capped off a dominant season with a 10-4 victory over Eden Prairie.

The game was played at Chanhassen High School.

Jake Heppner, , scored two goals in the victory, but that was only part of a balanced offensive attack that saw eight players tally at least one goal. Tanner Hamill also scored twice for the Lightning.

Though the Lightning continued the offensive firepower that saw them average more than 12 goals a game throughout the season, the state championship was won on defense and goaltending as much as anything else.

Eastview had surrendered a stingy five goals per game throughout the season, and goaltender Andrew Koenen stopped 16 shot attempts by Eden Prairie in only surrendering four goals in the championship game.

Eastview finished the season with a 16-1 overall record. And a state championship trophy.
