Eastview High School boys basketball coach Mark Gerber, who led the basketball program to three state tournaments during his 12 seasons with the team, has resigned his position.
Gerber resigned for personal reasons, and will remain in his current position as a social studies teacher at the school, according to a news release issued by the Minnesota State High School League. The school has already started a search for a new head coach, and all interested candidates should submit their application to Athletics Director Matt Percival by Friday, June 14.
Here is what Coach Gerber shared with members of the basketball program in an email informing them of his decision this weekend, according to the MSHSL:
“I want to personally thank the many parents and players that have made my experience as the basketball coach a highlight of my career. You have been instrumental in the success of our program and you will continue to be instrumental in future successes. The positive memories I have as a basketball coach over the past 15 years are too numerous to mention. But, the great relationships and friendships I’ve been able to form and maintain with players, parents, and coaches over this time are, without a doubt, the most positive of all. Please know how sincerely honored my wife, family, and I have been to be a part of Eastview Basketball. We will continue to root for your boys. Just from a different seat.”
