Community members will channel their inner child as they navigate a 10-acre sandbox with a full-sized excavator, bulldozer, and skid steer this Saturday. At the Extreme Sandbox open house, community members will explore heavy-duty machinery, watch the machinery crush cars, and more.
Extreme Sandbox is also partnering with Koch Pipeline Company, a Common Ground Alliance member, to encourage people to call 811 before they dig to determine the location of underground utilities. The Extreme Sandbox obstacle course will include four foot tall “super flags,” which some pipeline operators use to mark underground utilities.
Every year many Americans are injured or cause property damage because they fail to take the proper precautions before starting projects. Underground utilities are damaged approximately 165,000 times each year by digging, and one out of every three incidents is caused by someone who did not call 811 before digging.
