Family Of Late Teen Honored By National Football Foundation

Cap George played football at Rosemount Senior High School before he died of brain cancer in 2020.

ROSEMOUNT, MN— The Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation awarded the family of late Rosemount teen Cap George, a football player for Rosemount Senior High School who died of brain cancer in 2020, the Minnesota Football Honors Courage Award, the foundation said.

The George family will be honored during a tv broadcast in May, the foundation said.

“We can all learn lessons from the way Cap lived his life. He did not let any obstacle stand in his way. Even when he faced difficult challenges, he embraced every day and made people smile. Cap inspired others to make a difference,” Todd Fultz, president of the Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation and 2011 Courage Award winner, said. “Cap’s legacy continues to impact others every single day and we are honored to present Cap, his family and the Rosemount community with this award."

George was honored by his friends through #13ActsForCap in March, in which community members were encouraged to do random acts of kindness.

The George family also created the nonprofit CAPSTRONG, which donates money for scholarships and other causes in George's name, the foundation said.
