Filing To Open June 27 For School Board Candidates

You can file by August 10 to be a candidate in the 2021 School Board elections.

APPLE VALLEY, MN — Filing for those who wish to run for the Independent School District 196 School Board will open July 27, the district said. Filing will close Aug. 10, the district said.

Three positions on the school board are up for re-election in the Nov. 2, 2021 general school board election, the district said. The school board members who are up for re-election include Craig Angrimson, Art Coulson, and Mike Roseen, whose terms expire Jan. 3, 2022, the district said.

Each position has a term of four years-January 2022 through January 2026, the district said.

In order to be eligible to be a candidate, you must:

  • Be eligible to vote
  • Be at least 21 years old upon assuming office (Jan. 3, 2022)
  • Be a resident of the school district for at least 30 days before the election
  • Not be registered as a convicted sex offender
