ISD 196 School Board Approves Changes For Making Public Comment
The changes include creating a monthly "listening session" and getting rid of the meetings' open forum.
APPLE VALLEY, MN — Independent School District 196's School Board approved a policy change on Monday that would change the way residents can make public comments at meetings, Sun Thisweek reported.
According to the report, the changes include creating special monthly "listening sessions," eliminating open forum from the meetings' regular agenda, limiting the number of people who can sign up for special communications requests and limiting the time a person may speak for a special communications request.
The monthly listening sessions will be an hour long, and between one and three board members will attend, the report said. The first meeting will occur in September, the publication reported.
