The Minnesota Valley Men’s and Women’s Chorales honor service members at their upcoming concert, “Americana”

Spring Choir Concert, April 27, 28, 29, 2017 at 7:30 PM at Grace Lutheran Church, Apple Valley, MN

The Minnesota Valley Men’s and Women’s Chorales, under the direction of Steven O. Boehlke and Judy Sagen, will be presenting their spring concert, “Americana”, April 27, 28 and 29, 2017 at 7:30 pm at Grace Lutheran Church in Apple Valley. This concert will feature all American music including Folk, Broadway, Jazz, Swing, Early American Hymns and Gospel.

To pay tribute to service members, veterans and those who have lost their lives fighting for our country, the concert will conclude with a special finale, including A Salute to the Armed Forces and God Bless America. Discounted $5 tickets will be available for active service members and veterans.

The Minnesota Valley Men’s Chorale (MVMC) will also premiere a new commissioned work, “MARS, (Asleep and Waiting)”. Each year, the Minnesota Valley Men commission a Midwest composer to write a new composition. This year the MVMC members asked Timothy Takach, renowned composer and founding member of Cantus to write for the choir. Mr. Takach asked William Reichard to write a new text that centered around the masculinity of man as associated with Mars, the God of War and Mars, the planet.
