MN Zoo Brings Endangered Butterflies To Prairies: Report
The zoo's Prairie Conservation Program manages the only rearing, breeding and reintroduction program for the Dakota skipper in the world.
APPLE VALLEY, MN — In honor of Pollination Week, the Minnesota Zoo is bringing the endangered Dakota skipper prairie butterfly to prairies across Southwestern Minnesota for the fifth year, The St. Paul Pioneer Press reported.
Over 700 Dakota skippers will be released at wildlife management areas at the Hole-In-Mountain and Altona prairies, which haven't seen the species since 2009, the report said.
