Preventing Tooth Decay, and Supporting the Troops

Dentists in the Apple Valley-Rosemount area are taking part in a nationwide program to buy back candy from kids with too much, then donating the treats to care packages for U.S. troops.

OK, there's so much candy this morning that your house is starting to smell like a chocolate factory. You're having nightmares about next year's dental bills, but you'd rather avoid the inevitable confict that will come if you try to throw away all those goodies your kids collected Oct. 31?

Here's an idea: Take the kids, and their candy, to one of several local dentists paying $1 in exchange for all that chocolate, then donating the treats to care packages being sent to U.S. troops.
