Off the court, Jones maintains a 3.57 grade-point average in the classroom and volunteers as a youth basketball coach in an elementary school literacy outreach program and through his church youth group, according to a news release.

As player of the year, Jones will be able to select a youth sports organization to receive a $1,000 grant as part of the Gatorade Play It Forward program.

He will also have the opportunity to compete for an additional $10,000 spotlight grant by writing a brief essay explaining why his selected organization deserves additional support.
