Special Services at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church

Apple Valley’s Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church will feature special services on Palm Sunday weekend, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter weekend.

The congregation will celebrate Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem with a children’s processional of palm branches at all Palm Sunday weekend services. Services on March 24 at 5:00 pm, and March 25 at 8:30, 9:45, and 11:00 am, will include a drama with a live donkey! Also on Sunday, March 25 at 5:00 pm is the weekly Breaking Bread service, a casual, family-friendly worship service that includes dinner as part of the worship experience.

Maundy Thursday, March 29, will feature a Holy Week drama at noon and 7:00 pm. Good Friday, March 30, a passion cantata will be at noon and 7:00 pm. A soup lunch will be served from 11:15 am until noon on both Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

On Easter weekend, we invite everyone to come celebrate Jesus’ resurrection with us! Bring a bell with you to worship on Saturday, March 31 at 4:00 or 5:00 pm, or Sunday, April 1 at 8:00, 9:00, 10:00, 11:00 am, or noon. We offer both piano/organ-led services and band-led services. The theme for the church’s Lenten season has been “What are you hungry for?” Wednesday and Sunday evening sermons have featured a focus on physical and spiritual hunger. To address physical hunger, the church had a food drive with the goal of 15,000 pounds for its in-house food shelf. Having already exceeded the goal, the congregation will celebrate on April 7 & 8.
