2M Shots Given In MN: Here's How Many In Dakota County

Over 1.3 million Minnesotans have received their first dose of the vaccine.

DAKOTA COUNTY, MN— A total of 91,608 residents— or 21.7% percent of the county— have received at least their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the latest numbers from the Minnesota Department of Health.

Of those, 50,624 residents — or 12 percent of the county — have received both doses.

In Minnesota overall, 1.3 million people have received at least one dose. About 764,275 people, or 13.6 percent of the state, have received both doses.

Overall, the state has been averaging giving about 36,468 shots per day on average, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.

In all, over 1.9 million vaccines have been shipped to Minnesota providers, and 466,910 vaccines have been shipped to long-term care facilities for the CDC long-term care vaccination program.

Governor Tim Walz recently expanded vaccine eligibility in Minnesota.

Those who are currently eligible to be vaccinated now include:

  • Healthcare workers
  • Those who work at or live in long-term care facilities
  • People age 65 and older
  • Educators, school staff, and childcare workers
  • Those with certain underlying health conditions
  • Certain essential workers
  • People aged-50 and older in multigenerational housing
  • Essential frontline workers
