3 Finalists For County Attorney Replacement Approved By Board

Elections for replacing Jim Backstrom will occur Nov. 8, 2022.

DAKOTA COUNTY, MN— The Dakota County Board of Commissioners approved three finalists to replace Jim Backstrom, who retired due to health issues, at their Tuesday meeting, The Pioneer Press reported.

The finalists include:

  • Kathryn Keena, acting county attorney for Dakota County
  • Elizabeth Lamin, an assistant attorney for Ramsey County
  • Tom Pugh, a retired Minnesota district court judge

The election to fill this position will be Nov. 8, 2022, and the four-year term will begin Jan. 2, 2023, The Pioneer Press reported.

Public interviews of the finalists will occur in late April or early May, county spokeswoman Mary Beth Schubert told The Pioneer Press.
