Council Preview: New Restaurant, Retail Building Coming to the Lexington-Diffley Neighborhood?

The Eagan City Council will convene at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday night at City Hall to hold a regular council meeting. Here's a preview of a selection of agenda items the council is expected to discuss. For a full agenda, click here.

• Earlier in December, Eagan city officials announced they were suspending Granite City's liquor license for repeatedly failing liquor compliance checks. Now, the Eagan City Council is expected to approve a change of manager for the restaurant's on-sale liquor license and off-sale brewpub license. The restaurant's liquor license is still suspended from Jan. 2 through Jan. 31.

• The Eagan City Council may vote to authorize a grant application to the Minnesota Department of Agriculture for as much as $48,000 in grant funding. If the city receives the grant, the money would be earmarked for improvements to the Eagan Festival Grounds. The proposed improvements include additional handicap accessibility projects and extra electrical access points for vendors during Eagan's Market Fest.

• A new 5,580-square-foot restaurant with outdoor patio dining may be coming to the Diffley Marketplace development near the intersection of Lexington Avenue and Diffley Road in Eagan. Inland TRS Property Management, Inc. has asked the council to review and approve a preliminary planned development agreement to allow a full-service, sit-down restaurant just east of the Cub Foods and existing strip mall in the area. The company also wants to construct a multi-tenant retail building adjacent to the restaurant, and has applied for a final planned development agreement for the project.
