Dakota County To Celebrate Somali Independence Day

The celebration will include kids activities, performances, vendors and more.

DAKOTA COUNTY, MN — Residents of Dakota County will be able to celebrate Somali Independence Day on July 1 at Jensen Lake Trail in Eagan from 4-8 p.m., according to a flyer posted by Dakota County Library on Twitter.

The event will be hosted by Isuroon, an organization that advocates for the well-being of Somali women and girls, the library said.

The event will also have representatives from other community organizations throughout the county:

  • Dakota County Forever Wild Parks will lead children's science activities, nature trail walks and field games
  • Dakota County Library will lead arts and crafts
  • Community resources will be available

In addition to these activities, the celebration will also include performances from singers and dancers, free henna, food vendors and more, the flyer said.
