Eagan High School Students Collect Thousands of Food Items During Six-Day Drive
The high school kicked off the food drive last week in honor of Food Share Month.
A six-day food drive at Eagan High School brought in 2,250 food items and $4,500 in donations, according to food drive coordinator Jane Lee.
Eagan students kicked off the food drive last week in honor of Food Share Month. As part of the drive, the school's 100 homerooms were divided into 25 teams, which competed in a day-to-day competition.
Participants were asked to bring food products centered around daily themes; last Thursday, for example was designated "Veggie Tales" day, and students collected vegetables to match the theme. The winning team will receive breakfast sponsored by the high school's student government, which organized the drive.

All items collected by the drive this year were donated to the Eagan & Lakeville Resource Centers, Lee added.
The school's donations easily surpassed last year's food drive totals. In 2012, participants collected 1,440 food items and $1,000 in donations.
The homeroom teams that collected the most food and money during the drive are as follows:
