Eagan Outdoorsman Tells of Whopper Fishing Trip in New Children's Book

Eagan author Kevin Lovegreen has been writing at a breakneck pace.

In Dec. 2011, Eagan author Kevin Lovegreen put his passion for hunting and the outdoors to paper, penning his first children's book, "Lucky Luke's Hunting Adventures: The Swamp."

Since then, Lovegreen has published no less than four additional illustrated children's books—all centered around the titular character Lucky Luke, a young hunter. Lovegreen's latest title, "Fish On!", was released earlier this year. The 60-page, easy-to-read book details Luke's visit to his grandparent's lake cabin in the northwoods—and the very successful fishing trip that followed.

Lovegreen found inspiration for the series of stories from his childhood journal, which catalogued his early hunting and fishing experiences. Lovegreen's first book—and other stories since then—are based loosely on those experiences.

Lovegreen hopes the stories will deepen the young readers' appreciation for nature, he told Patch in a 2012 interview.

“I think it’s so unhealthy for kids to sit at computers and not move and not get exercise and breathe fresh air," Lovegreen said. "I’m just a huge advocate of being outside."
