Hello again from Payton Greenlee. This is my second blog and I’m really excited to tell you about all the things we are doing in the ambassador program. Since the last time I wrote we have participated in the Burnsville Fire Muster Parade. This parade we road three to a truck. Mia, Hanna and I in one and Reese, Kari and Avery in the other. There were a lot of children there and the weather was perfect. After the parade was over we took a couple hour break and then reconnected for the Inver Grove Heights Coronation. It was really fun to watch Meghan’s sister, Trish, get crowned Ms. Inver Grove Heights. We talked with the visiting royalty and the candidates that were not chosen about how they should try again next year. That’s what I did. I wasn’t crowned the first year I ran, came back this year and was crowned one of the six 2014-2015 Eagan Ambassadors.
My favorite event was the Running of the Llama’s in Hammond, WI. It took us an hour one way to get there. Mia, Hanna, my sister, Alyce, my mom, Natalie and I were in one car and Tom, Reese, Avery and Kari were in another. Our car was the party car because we listen to music and sing the whole ride. Hammond, WI is a small town with around 2000 people living there. The ambassadors and I were talking about how Eagan High School has about as many people attending school there as there are people living in Hammond. WOW! The parade was very short. A block long! We walked with the Hammond Royalty and all the Llamas. It was so fun. Mia, Hanna and I thought it would be funny if we met a llama named Fred and we actually did. Did you know there are llamas which are tall and Alpaca’s that are smaller and shorter. After the parade we watched the Running of the Llamas. It was interesting to watch. The llama owners ran along side them holding their ropes and pulled them down the street to the finish line. The best 4 raced the final race with the winning llama receiving a bowl of lettuce as the grand prize. It was by far the funniest event so far.
Now that we all have our formal and casual dresses we are looking forward to our group photo shoot. It should be a lot of fun. I am having so much fun as an ambassador and am looking forward to our future events. Thanks for reading about my experience.
