Lost Dog: Patch Reader Needs Help Finding "Munchie," a Newfoundland

Munchie as been sighted in southeastern Eagan and northern Rosemount. She's been missing since April 24.

Editor's Note: The following is a request for help from local resident Dena Thorson, who is searching for a lost Newfoundland dog, Munchie.

Munchie, a black Newfoundland dog, was rescued from a home three weeks ago and put into emergency foster care. The next morning, April 24th, her stress level peaked and she broke away from her foster in the Diffley and Lexington area.

She was seen a couple days later being chased and bit by a coyote in her rear leg and has been sighted limping several times.  She is not used to being outside and is very fearful of strangers so we are asking if anyone sees her to just call us and not chase her or call out to her. She is so skittish that at one point, she came up behind us in the woods and ran, even from the person she knew.

We are trying to keep her in the same area but have not had much luck since she has been sighted around Trapp Farm, Wilderness Run, Diffley and Lexington, Eagan High School, and recently the Wescott and Dodd area.

The most recent sighting was at 6:20 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14th in the area around 126th and Bacardi in Rosemount.  If anyone would like to help get this wounded girl home, we welcome any help with handing out flyers and putting up posters because there is only a small group of us and she is covering a lot of ground!

She is a big girl (someone even called animal control thinking she was a bear) and likely limping, with a possibly matted black coat, red collar, and a small patch of white on her chest. Again, if you see her, please just note the time, cross streets, and which direction she was heading and call either 612-280-2921 or 612-735-6314 any time of day or night. Thank you!
