Missa Gaia - Earth Mass

After a resounding success in 2016, St. Thomas Becket will again present this dynamic work that celebrates creation.

St. Thomas Becket (Eagan) Music Ministry and guests will present this
work interspersed with excerpts from Pope Francis’s document on the
environment, Laudato Si*, to celebrate and call attention to our need to care
for our planet.

Guests include Roger Stratton, piano and Larry Neumann, soprano sax (both from
Guardian Angels, Oakdale MN). Fr. Michael Joncas will read quotes from Laudato
Si.

Missa Gaia (MEE-sah GUY-ah) is an environmental liturgy of contemporary music
written by Paul Winter in 1982. It features soprano sax along with other
instruments, a choir, vocal soloist, and the calls of wolves, whales, and other
animals that are woven into the pieces, sometimes used as the melody.
