Pine River Woman Accused Of Swindling $13k From Eagan Business

She is facing charges after officials say she swindled money from a business that provides services to disabled adults.

EAGAN, MN— A woman from Pine River is facing charges after being accused of swindling $13,000 from New Challenges in Eagan, a business that provides services to disabled adults, according to a criminal complaint filed in Minnesota's First Judicial District Court.

Tracy Degrote, 47, has been charged with theft by swindle and if sentenced could face up to 10 years in prison and/or pay a fee of up to $20,000, officials said.

Degrote worked at New Challenges until 2019.

Degrote told New Challenges that she was working with a client when she had in fact stopped working for that person in 2014, officials said. Degrote still requested mileage funds and wages from the business for work she said she was doing for the client, officials said.
