Police: Man Threatened to Beat Up His Boss, Open Fire at Eagan Business

A St. Paul man was arrested after he allegedly threatened to shoot five of his co-workers at an Eagan business and beat up his boss in the street.

Hector Rufino Vergara-Sanchez, 37, faces one felony count of terroristic threats for his alleged role in the incident, according to a criminal complaint filed by the Dakota County Attorney's Office. If convicted, he could face a maximum of five years in priosn and $10,000 in fines.

Police say Vergara-Sanchez' supervisor spoke with him on April 16 about his workplace performance. During that conversation, Vergara-Sanchez became upset and allegedly said he would bring a gun to work and shoot five people.

At 3:20 p.m. the same day, the company president and vice president also spoke with Vergara-Sanchez about the threat, according to the criminal complaint. During the conversation, the vice president allegedly told the man that his behavior was unacceptable and fired Vergara-Sanchez.

Following the conversation, police say Vergara-Sanchez went outside to his vehicle, while the vice president called 911 to report the threat. At that point, the vice president witnessed Vergara-Sanchez walk up to the front door of the business, the complaint said.

Police say Vergara-Sanchez met his former supervisor at the door and threatened to beat him up if he met him again on the street. Eventually, another employee was able to get Vergara-Sanchez to calm down and leave the business, according to police.

Police later arrested Vergara-Sanchez at his home. While en route to jail, Vergara-Sanchez verbally denied making the threats, according to police.
