Poop Tracker Solves Eagan Lost & Found Purse Mystery

An Eagan police officer solved the case of the missing purse using unconventional means.

(Eagan Police Department)

EAGAN, MN — A device that's meant to keep owners on the hook for their pet's poop saved the day for one resident. Last week, an Eagan police officer found a purse with cash, jewelry and no identification of the owner at a gas station.

One item the officer did find? A dog tag that read "PooPrints" and included a serial number.

Some apartments require that tenants have their pets' DNA collected and registered with the PooPrints company.

The officer contacted the company and was able to locate the DNA profile of the dog. The owner of the dog was located and will have her belongings returned to her, police announced Thursday.

"Although an unconventional way to find an owner, this K9 did his doody to help officers solve the case," Eagan police joked on Facebook.
