Three Eagan High School Seniors Sign Athletic Letters of Intent

Ever since he was a child watching football on TV, Jabri Guy has dreamt about playing college football.

The Eagan High School senior will get his chance next fall; on Wednesday morning, he signed a letter of intent pledging to play football at Rochester Community Technical College after graduating. Guy wasn't the only EHS senior to sign on the dotted line on Wednesday. Fellow seniors Danielle Anderson and Kat Torres, who also participated in the short ceremony in the high school's multi-purpose room, will play at the University of Minnesota and Hillsdale College in Michigan, respectively.

"It’s an honor to be here and share this moment with you," Eagan High School Principal Dr. Polly Reikowski said during the signing. "There are thousands and thousands of students in the state of Minnesota who are athletes, but are not sitting at a table like this."

"I think it’s pretty exciting to be here, but I think it’s even more exciting to see what happens next," Reikowski said.

Anderson, the captain of the Wildcats girls cross country team, led her teammates to a second-place finish at the state cross-country meet in 2012—the highest cross country finish ever for any EHS athletic team. The team went on to take 19th place at the Nike Cross Country Nationals competition in Oregon.

Anderson said she decided to attend the U of M because she had strong chemistry with the students and coaches of the athletic team there.

Torres, who placed 22nd at the state gymnastics meet last year, hopes to head to state once more this winter, according to a Star Tribune report.

"I’m looking forward to a lot more intensity from the training standpoint, and being more competitive," Torres said, referring to her collegiate expectations. "

I just want to thank everybody who’s been on this journey, and I appreciate it," Torres added. "A million thanks wouldn’t be enough."
