Vikings Practice Stadium To Host Mass Coronavirus Vaccine Event
13,400 healthcare workers and people aged 65 and older will be able to receive Johnson & Johnson's one-shot vaccine from Friday to Tuesday.
EAGAN, MN— 13,400 Minnesotans will receive their Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine from Friday to Tuesday at the Minnesota Vikings' practice facility in Eagan, also known as TCO Performance Center, the Vikings announced Thursday.
The Vikings partnered with the state of Minnesota's Community Vaccination Program and allow usage of their field for vaccine administration for Minnesotans aged 65 and older and healthcare workers, the Vikings said.
"This partnership with the Minnesota Vikings helps us move the ball down the field in the fight to end the COVID-19 pandemic," Governor Tim Walz said in the news release. "This one-and-done vaccine is safe, highly effective, and helps us more quickly provide immunity to Minnesotans including to our courageous health care providers and vulnerable older neighbors."

Governor Tim Walz recently announced that the next phase of vaccine rollout will begin when 70 percent of seniors are vaccinated. The next phase is expected to begin in April.
Those who may currently receive the COVID-19 vaccine include people aged 65 and older, as well as healthcare workers.

The next phase will include people with preexisting conditions, and food plant workers. The general public is expected to be able to receive their vaccines this summer.
In addition to the Vikings' practice facility, other mass vaccination sites include Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center, Minneapolis Convention Center, and Mayo Civic Center.
Overall, the state has been averaging giving about 25,421.4 shots per day on average, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.
As of today, 928,963 Minnesotans have received at least their first shot, and 484,383 Minnesotans have the full set, according to the Department of Health.
