MINNEAPOLIS, MN - The Vikings waived rookie kicker Daniel Carlson on Monday after he missed three field goals during the Vikings 29-29 tie with Green Bay on Sunday. Minnesota is adding veteran kicker Dan Bailey, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Bailey will undergo a physical exam before the Vikings make a final decision on signing him.

On Sunday, Coach Mike Zimmer made these comments about Carlson missing the three field goals. The rookie from Auburn was the highest drafted kicker in team history.

"You know what, guys are supposed to do their jobs," Zimmer said. "Maybe we should've thrown a ball into the end zone a couple of times at the end, but I believed that the guy was going to make the kick. He said to put it in the middle of the field and I put it dead smack in the middle and in practice every day, he drills them. So that's the disappointing thing for me. We come out here and we do that."

Minnesota traded two draft picks to move up to the fifth round of the draft to select Carlson. Bailey was released by the Cowboys on Sept. 1. He is the second most accurate field goal kicker in NFL history, converting 88.1 percent of his attempts.
