What Each Twin Cities School District Is Doing This Fall: LIST

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL METRO, MN — This fall, Minnesota's "back to school" season is going to be unlike any other year, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Last week, Gov. Tim Walz and the Minnesota Department of Health released parameters they want schools to meet before fully reopening in the fall.

The recommended model of education — distance learning, hybrid, or in-person — depends on how many coronavirus cases are reported in the county.

However, the ultimate decision of how to reopen school this fall is being left up to the school districts themselves.

Several school districts in the Twin Cities metro have already announced their "education model" decision for this fall, while others are planning to do so later this month.

Anoka-Hennepin Schools: Hybrid-model

Burnsville-Eagan-Savage Schools: Plan to be announced in "early August"

Hopkins Public Schools: Leaning towards hybrid-model

Mendota Heights District 197: More information to be shared Aug. 5

Minneapolis Public Schools: Distance-learning (online only)

Minnetonka Public Schools: The School Board will choose the education model "either at its August 6 meeting or at a special meeting shortly thereafter, if they feel they need more time to consider the options"

Northfield Public Schools: Decision by Aug. 7

Osseo Area Schools: Leaning towards hybrid-model

Prior Lake-Savage Schools: More information will be released the week of Aug. 10.

Richfield Public Schools: Recommendation to school board will be made Aug. 17

Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan Schools: Hybrid-model

Saint Paul Public Schools: Leaning towards distance-learning (online only)

South Washington County Schools: Information about fall schedules will be shared by Aug. 7.

Stillwater Area Public Schools: Decision expected to be made at Aug. 6 school board meeting.

St. Louis Park Schools: Leaning towards distance-learning (online only)

All schools that do open during the school year must follow public health guidelines on masks, social distancing, personal hygiene, screening, and cleaning practices.
