The National Weather Service says a white Christmas looks "nearly certain" for Minnesota and west central Wisconsin.

With the fresh snowpack and cold temperatures in place, the National Weather Service (NWS) said on Facebook Monday that a white Christmas looks "nearly certain" for Minnesota and west central Wisconsin. The Minnesota Department of Natural resources defines a "white Christmas" as at least one inch of snow on the ground Dec. 25.

  • Twin Cities: 72 percent
  • Northern Minnesota: 90 Percent
  • Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA): almost guaranteed
  • Southwestern/Southeastern Minnesota: 60 percent

More light snow is possible Monday as an Arctic cold front moves through the area. The NWS predicts a very cold week, with what is shaping up to be a possibly snowy finish.
