Man Drowns In St. Croix River Monday

DENMARK TOWNSHIP, MN — A 38-year-old man from Brooklyn Park drowned in the St. Croix River Monday night, the Washington County Sheriff's Office said. The name of the man has not been released, pending notification of the man's family.

"For safety purposes, we ask everyone to remain vigilant when they're in and around the water," Washington County Parks Director Sandy Breuer said in a news release.

Deputies responded to the report of the drowning at 5:30 p.m. Monday night at Douglas Drive in Denmark Township. When deputies arrived, the man was being brought to shore in a boat.

Deputies began CPR and transported the man to Regions Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office and Ramsey County Medical Examiner are continuing the investigation to confirm the man's cause of death.
