Board For Stillwater Schools To Vote On Delaying 1st Day Back

The delay would give students and staff more time to prepare for "an unusual year of learning," the district said.

STILLWATER, MN — The board for Stillwater Area Schools is considering a delayed start for the school year. The measure would aim to provide families and staff additional time to prepare for "an unusual year of learning," the district said in a release Friday.

The new calendar, recommended to the board by administrators, would have students begin school after Labor Day:

  • Sept. 8 (grades 6, 9)
  • Sept. 9 (grades 7, 8, 10, 11, 12)
  • Sept. 10 (grades K through 5)
  • K-5 Ready, Set, Go! Online conferences: Sept. 8, 9

The board is expected to vote on the delayed calendar July 30.
