Drunken Mom Left Baby Home Alone In Oak Park Heights: Cops
Police found the 6-week-old baby alone and cool to the touch, according to the criminal complaint.
WASHINGTON COUNTY, MN — An Oak Park Heights woman faces a DWI and a child neglect charge after she was arrested at a gas station in town back in November. The woman admitted she left her six-week-old child at home alone, according to investigators.
Just after 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 2, Oak Park Heights police responded to a welfare check at the local business. Someone had called 911 to report what appeared to be an obviously intoxicated person.
Police said they found Emily Schweiger, 31, in the driver's seat of a black Ford Fusion parked with its engine running.

Her eyes were bloodshot and watery, her reactions were slow, and police could smell alcohol coming from inside of the car, according to the criminal complaint.
A portable breath test found her to have an alcohol concentration of 0.21, police said. Schweiger was arrested and told police she had left her six-week-old son at home alone, the complaint states.

Police went to her apartment and found the baby, who felt cool to the touch despite being wrapped in several blankets, police said.
An officer noted that the baby looked underweight for his age and that he had a dirty diaper. The baby was taken to Children's Hospital for evaluation. Schweiger was taken to the Washington County Jail.
The complaint says that Schweiger's driving privileges were revoked on Oct. 5, 2015 after she was arrested for an alcohol- related offense.
Schweiger's initial court appearance for the case was this week.
