Forest Lake Man Arrested After Shooting On I-35
A driver reported that someone in a passing BMW fired a gun while northbound on I-35 Friday.
WYOMING, MN — A Forest Lake man is in custody following a report of a shooting on Interstate 35 in Wyoming on Friday afternoon. The Minnesota State Patrol received a report of a shot fired at a motorist shortly after 2:15 p.m. Friday.
Michael Swonger, 44, of Minneapolis, reported that someone in a passing BMW fired one shot into his vehicle as he was northbound on I-35. When troopers arrived, they located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle that had gone off the road.
Troopers and officers detained the driver of the BMW and located a firearm. Further investigation found a bullet hole in the vehicle driven by Swonger, authorities said.

Trinidad Garcia, 27, of Forest Lake was taken into custody on suspicion of second-degree assault and a felon in possession of a firearm, according to a news release. This remains an active investigation.
The State Patrol was assisted by the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office and the Wyoming Police Department. No injuries were reported.
