Jim Kowalski, owner of Woodbury-based Kowalski's Markets, died in a plane accident Thursday morning, according to WCCO. He was 67.
He was on a fishing trip in Canada when the accident happened, WCCO reports.
The Oak Park Heights Kowalski's Market, designed to look like a European village, opened in June 2005.
Kowalski co-owned the local grocery chain with his wife, Mary Anne.
