Mari-Mi Store In Downtown Stillwater Closes

STILLWATER, MN — Mari-Mi Store + Studio + Cafe in downtown Stillwater closed unexpectedly Sunday. The store, owned by Gartner Studios, opened in 2010 and highlighted the stationery company’s invitations and paper goods. It also sold specialty paper items, desktop accessories and other gifts.

A representative for Gartner Studios told the Pioneer Press Wednesday the 201 S. Main St. location served a dual purpose, housing the company’s corporate staff as well as a retail storefront. The closure of the retail store will allow the company to relocate staff from a second Stillwater location at 220 E. Myrtle St. to the South Main Street building.

Former owner Greg Gartner sold the company two years ago to a private equity firm in Chicago, the Pioneer Press reported. He will continue to own the South Main Street building and the Post Office building on East Myrtle Street.
