May Township Shooting: Second Suspect Arrested, Charged
Angel Ignacio Sardina-Padilla, 32, is charged in Washington County District Court with aiding and abetting attempted murder and kidnapping.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, MN — Police on Tuesday arrested a second man in connection with a gang-related shooting that occurred in May Township earlier this month. Angel Ignacio Sardina-Padilla, 32, made his first appearance in Washington County District Court Wednesday and is charged with several counts of aiding and abetting attempted murder and kidnapping.
Police on Saturday also arrested Luis Alfredo Cortez Mendoza, 23, in connection to the incident that took place in the early-morning hours of June 9 when a woman was found shot in the middle of a May Township roadway. Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to the scene near Saint Croix Trail North and 124th Street North, where they discovered the woman had suffered from a gunshot wound.
According to reports, an Uber driver discovered the victim and proceeded to wrap her in a blanket, put her into the back of his car and drive until he got enough signal to call 911. The victim was transported to the hospital, where she was treated for her injuries.

Sardina-Padilla was arrested in the 2200 block of North Fourth Street in Minneapolis. He was charged with aiding and abetting attempted first-degree murder for the benefit of a gang, aiding and abetting attempted second-degree murder for the benefit of a gang, and aiding and abetting kidnapping for the benefit of a gang. His next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 15.
Mendoza was charged with one count of attempted first-degree murder for the benefit of a gang, attempted second-degree murder for the benefit of a gang and kidnapping for the benefit of a gang. Mendoza’s next court appearance is scheduled for June 24.

Bail for both men was set at $2 million.
