Minnesota Students Hold Pro-Gun Walkouts Wednesday

Hundreds of schools across the country, including at least five in the Twin Cities metro​, are participating in "Stand for the Second."

TWIN CITIES, MN — Will Riley, a high school senior from Carlsbad, New Mexico, is calling on students across the country to stage walkouts at their schools for 16 minutes Wednesday in support of gun rights and the Second Amendment.

Hundreds of schools across the country, including at least five in the Twin Cities metro, are participating in the "Stand for the Second" demonstration:

  • Jennings Community School Walkout, Saint Paul
  • Forest Lake Area High School, Forest Lake
  • Rogers High School Walkout, Rogers
  • Coon Rapids High School Walkout, Coon Rapids
  • Irondale Highschool Walkout, Moundsview

"There is a lot of talk recently about the need to create new laws that would restrict access to firearms in order to make our schools safer," reads the event's website.

"But not a lot of attention has been given to those of us who want to protect our natural rights that are enshrined in the constitution. That’s what Stand for the Second is all about."
