Oak Park Heights City Council Appoints Mike Liljegren to Fill Vacant Seat
Mike Liljegren was appointed to fill the council seat that will be left vacant by Les Abrahamson at the end of the month.

The Oak Park Heights City Council this week appointed Mike Liljegren to fill the council seat that will be left vacant by Les Abrahamson at the end of the month.
The council—in a 4-0—on Tuesday accepted Abrahamson's resignation effective April 30; and appointed Liljegren, a former planning commission member, to fill the post.
Abrahamson was absent from Tuesday’s meeting. Liljegren was out of the country on Tuesday, but City Administrator Eric Johnson said he would talk with Liljegren to make sure he was comfortable with the appointment.

In his resignation letter, Abrahamson recommended the council appoint Liljegren to serve on the council.
Abrahamson, serving in his third term on the Oak Park Heights City Council, announced his resignation last month. He will be relocating to the Dallas, Texas area in May for his job at State Farm Insurance.

The council approved up to $500 for a gathering of appreciation of Abrahamson’s service to the city. The date of the party has not yet been set.
