Police: 'Extremely Intoxicated' Man Transported after Stealing a Bicycle, then Crashing it

A 24-year-old Stillwater man was cited for theft after he reportedly stole a bicycle from downtown and crashed it. Police say the man was "extremely intoxicated" and didn't know what happened, where he was, or where he was going.

A 24-year-old Stillwater man was transported to the hospital after he reportedly got extremely drunk, stole a bicycle from downtown and crashed it near Fourth and Myrtle streets.

Police responded at 3:16 a.m. Thursday (March 7) for a report of a man who was lying face down in the roadway near Fourth Street North and Myrtle Street after he crashed a bicycle.

When police arrived, officers saw the man in lying in the roadway. He was “extremely intoxicated” and didn’t know what happened, where he was, or where he was going, the report states.

The man initially denied medical attention, but police called Lakeview medics to check him out, the report states. Medics treated him for cuts and bruises to his head, face and knee, and then transported him to the hospital because he had no one to look after him.

While talking with officers, the man said he had stolen a bicycle from downtown. He was cited for theft and released to medics “for safekeeping.”
