Minnesota will lose all 18 of its Herberger’s stores and its two Younkers locations thanks to the bankruptcy of the retailers' parent company. Milwaukee-based Bon-Ton Stores Inc. was purchased by liquidators ahead of going-out-of-business sales that will begin at stores Friday.

All 250 of Bon-Ton's are expected to close in the next 10 to 12 weeks.

Herberger’s was founded in St. Cloud in 1927. Proffitt’s Inc. purchased the shopping chain in the 90s and eventually sold it to Milwaukee-based Northern Department Store Group in 2005, the Pioneer Press reported.
