Stillwater City Council to Hear Results of Events Survey, Discuss Next Steps
A representative of Readex will present the findings of the full $15,000 events survey to the Stillwater City Council tonight. The council will then discuss the next steps moving forward.
The City Council tonight will get a presentation on the Readex event survey—and discuss what the next steps are in determining what events should look like in Stillwater.
Last week, Community Development Director Bill Turnblad told the City Council that 66 percent of the people surveyed by Readex are in favor of a new community event to replace the now defunct Lumberjack Days.
A representative of Readex will present the findings of the full $15,000 survey tonight.

What Should a Summer Festival in Stillwater Look Like?
The random, 2,000-sample survey was sent to homes, business and property owners in Stillwater. About 1,100 responses were returned.
The Six Objectives of the Survey:
- Evaluate community preferences for a summer festival;
- Identify the maximum acceptable impact of events on neighborhoods, businesses and city resources;
- Identify the kinds of events desired by the community;
- Determine which neighborhoods and commercial districts are appropriate venues for events that use public resources ,streets, sidewalks and parks;
- Help the Council determine the maximum number of allowable events in a year, and decide whether multiple substantially similar events should be allowed, and if so, at what frequency;
- Help the Council form a comprehensive events policy.
The council will hear the Readex presentation during a workshop that begins at 4:30 p.m. at City Hall. The council will discuss the next steps during the 7 p.m. meeting.
