Police say a 19-year-old Somerset, Wis. man has admitted to groping several women in a sexual manner in the Cub Foods parking lot on April 3. Only one victim has made a report, so now Stillwater detectives asking other potential victims to come forward.

A 19-year-old Somerset, Wis., man was arrested for sexual assault this week after allegedly groping a woman in the Cub Foods parking lot.

Only one victim has come forward so far, Stillwater Police Detective Jeff Stender said. But the suspect has admitted to groping at least two or three other women at the same location on the same day, as well as groping women in other communities.

The incidents at Stillwater Cub Foods reportedly occured on the afternoon of April 3. The suspect was identified on security video, and was arrested.

Stender requested that media not report the man’s name or post his mug shot, yet.

Police are looking for other victims to come forward, Stender said, and don’t want to taint the suspect line-up pool, if other victims report crimes.

“There’s a public safety issue here,” Stender said. “The increase in the frequency of his admitted behavior concerns me.”

It’s not uncommon for sexual offenders to start by groping a woman, move on to groping multiple women and eventually commit full-on sexual assaults, Stender said.

Although the information is public, in this case Stillwater Patch has agreed to the police department’s request to withhold that information in this post while detectives continue their investigation.
