Stillwater Ponies Defeat Wayzata to Win State Soccer Championship
The Stillwater Ponies beat the Wayzata Trojans to win the program's first AA championship since 1996.
The undefeated Stillwater Ponies (22-0) beat the Wayzata Trojans Nov. 3 at U.S. Bank Stadium to win the program’s first AA championship since 1996 and the school's third state championship overall. The Trojans (18-1-3) were previously undefeated as well.
The Stillwater Gazette reported that after a scoreless opening half, Colman Farrington scored less than three minutes after the break on an assist by Miguel Caravias. A second goal by Kohei Adams ensured the team's victory.
Stillwater outshot Wayzata 12-2 in the second half.
