Stillwater Store Owned By Ex-WCCO Meteorologist Is Closing

The downtown Stillwater store is selling everything 25 percent off in its last month of business.

STILLWATER, MN — The Stillwater Farm Store, owned by former WCCO meteorologist Rebecca Kolls, is closing at the end of the month. The downtown store is selling everything 25 percent off until then.

"Lost our lease, boo!" the store announced on Facebook in the spring. "We are closing June 30."

The Stillwater Farm Store has been around since about 1896, according to its website. It sells feed, seed, and other goods for both farmers and homeowners.

Kolls purchased the store in 2015. She said a combination of rising rent costs and competition from online retailers has made business tough.

"Honestly, I do not know what July 1 will bring," Kolls told the Pioneer Press in April. "Obviously, the rents in Stillwater are going through the roof, so it makes it really hard for a small business retailer to pay the prices."
