Stillwater Students Spread Holiday Cheer to Less Fortunate

Stillwater Area Public Schools came together in a big way to help those less fortunate during the holidays.

Stillwater Area Public Schools came together in a big way to help those less fortunate during the holidays. Schools across the district collected donations, from food and clothing to toys and books.

Students at Andersen, Oak Park, Rutherford and Withrow elementaries sponsored needy families through Community Thread’s Holiday Hope program.

Students at Afton-Lakeland and Stonebridge elementaries collected food and winter clothing for Valley Outreach, while students at Marine Elementary collected toys for Toys for Tots, according to a news release.

Girl Scouts from Lily Lake Elementary made holiday cards for seniors.

Stillwater Junior High, students collected donations for Operation Gratitude to be sent to U.S. troops overseas and gifts for about 20 Head Start students.

At Stillwater Area High School, the Young Democrats and Young Republicans held a fundraiser to purchase gifts for Toys for Tots.

Meanwhile, the National Honor Society is collecting food for Valley Outreach at it’s Coffee House concert next week.
