Today is Taco Bealka Appreciation Day in Stillwater.
The Stillwater City Council on Tuesday approved a proclamation on Tuesday thanking Bealka’s family for his “tireless and passionate service to the Stillwater community.”
Bealka died in December 2012.
"He was a philosopher," Former Coach George Thole told the Pioneer Press in December. "He always had a message -- we called them 'Taco-isms.' They were pearls of wisdom."
In addition to Bealka’s work at Stillwater High School, he was also recognized for his volunteer efforts with many organizations in the community, including his service on the Stillwater City Council, the Joint Cable Commission and the Charter Commission.
