VIDEO: Minnesota Zephyr Moves Through Iowa Enroute to Colorado

The Minnesota Zephyr dinner trains were captured on video and shared on Youtube last weekend at the North Dakota crossing in Ames, Iowa.

The Stillwater Zephyr is heading west to Colorado.

David Paradeau told the Pioneer Press the famed dinner cars are being sold to a company in Alamosa, Colorado, a subsidiary of Iowa Pacific Holdings.

Paradeau did not disclose specifics about the transaction.

The dinner cars were loaded onto flatbeds last week and sent on the way to Colorado, via the rails. He plans to move the two locomotives from the depot sometime this spring.

According to the video description:

"Saturday, March 23, 2013, 6:11 PM. A westbound Union Pacific mixed freight passes the old Doboy elevator at the North Dakota crossing in Ames, Iowa, with surprises in tow: 6 old passenger cars without wheels being transported on flat cars. I'll bet someone out there can tell me whose they are and where they're going. The light wasn't quite good enough for the lettering to come out the clearest, but I think the names on the sides are: Lake Winds, Northern Winds, Stillwater, Grand Dome, and St. Croix (the fourth car is a baggage car with no name). I uncharacteristically uploaded this video out of chronological order to have a kind of nice splash for my 600th video."
