Volunteer Expo, Stuff the Bus Campaign Set for Aug. 27 at Stillwater High School

In addition to learning about volunteer opportunities, community members are asked to donate school supplies for students in need.

If you are interested in learning about different volunteer opportunities in the St. Croix Valley, you’ll want to head to Stillwater Area High School on Aug. 27 for the fourth annual Volunteer Expo.

The United Way of Washington County-East and Community Thread are partnering up for the event that will happen in the Stillwater Area High School’s cafeteria from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27.

Included in the Volunteer Expo is a “Stuff the Bus” campaign.

“It’s important for each student to start the school year off right with the correct school supplies,” said United Way of Washington County-East’s executive director, Angie Lien.  “We couldn’t think of a better way to promote the volunteer expo than with an added ‘Stuff the Bus’ campaign!”

With 6 percent of Washington County living in poverty, it can be difficult for everyone to make ends meet, a news release about the event reads. Providing students the materials they need for school is an effort to close the gap and make sure every student has a fair chance to flourish.
