The City of St. Louis Park has recently completed a tree planting project using grant funds from the Minnesota Environmental and Natural Resources Trust Fund and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Through this project, the city was able to plant 182 trees of 14 different varieties (species) throughout the east neighborhood of Aquila Park. This is the first time this neighborhood has had trees planted along the boulevards. The goal of this grant was to promote environmental equity by increasing tree canopy, planting a diverse array of trees (less prone to one invasive species like Emerald Ash Borer) and offset Emerald Ash Borer tree removals (this area has high numbers of ash on private property).
