Boy Shot In St. Louis Park, Celebratory Gunfire Blamed: Police

A boy was shot in the arm during the 4th of July celebrations, police said.

ST. LOUIS PARK, MN — A boy was shot on the 4th of July in St. Louis Park during celebratory gunfire, police said. The gunshot wound is not life-threatening.

Just before 11 p.m. Sunday, St. Louis Park fire and police responded to the 3300 block of Aquila Avenue on the report of a boy bleeding from his arm. The boy was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center by paramedics.

"It’s unlikely this was a deliberate act with an intent to cause harm and is more likely connected to reckless behavior in conjunction with Fourth of July celebrations," St. Louis Park police said in a statement.

"Although the facts related to this particular incident are still being investigated, this is a good reminder about the dangers of firing a bullet into the air with outcomes that can cause serious injury or even death."

The case remains under investigation by the St. Louis Park police.
