City Plans Summer Street Work
The St. Louis Park City Council approved its street rehab plan last week.

As part of an eight-year program to rehabilitate older streets in St. Louis Park, City Council last week approved a construction plan for this summer.
The work—which is slated to begin in late June and last about five to six weeks per block—will include streets in the Fern Hill, Lake Forest, Cedarhurst and Blackstone neighborhoods. Workers will be removing old asphalt and replacing it with a new, three-and-a-half inch thick layer.
Utility work will also be done during the project.

In a report to council, the city's engineering staff lays out what kind of disruptions residents should expect:
During this work, residents will nearly always have access to their driveways and overnight parking will be allowed on the street. However, driveways will not be accessible for up to one week if concrete aprons are replaced. The final layer of bituminous is typically placed near the end of the project and will result in another day of disruption for any one block.

Also this summer, work is expected to be completed on the stretch of Excelsior Boulevard from Louisiana Avenue to Dakota Avenue. That is a county project, and more information is available online.
